College-bound high school students who live in Allegheny County, have a 3.25 grade point average or above, are involved in their community, and care deeply about the Pittsburgh region are invited to apply to the Landmarks Scholarship Program. The application deadline for 2017 is Wednesday, April 19.
Since the program’s inception in 1999, 64 graduating seniors from area high schools have been awarded scholarships for book and tuition expenses only to colleges of their choice. The scholarship award increased from $4,000 to $6,000 in 2015. The scholarship is payable over four years, for book and tuition expenses only. In addition, four students have been awarded Honorable Mentions, a one-time award of $250 for book and tuition expenses only. The Honorable Mentions category was created in 2016.
The Landmarks Scholarship Program is funded by the Brashear Family Fund of the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation and by many other foundations, businesses, and individuals who have contributed to Scholarship Celebrations in 2008 and 2014. We thank each donor for supporting this program that helps young people achieve their educational goals and stay connected to the Pittsburgh region through PHLF.
